Child Abuse Pediatrics

The Division of Child Abuse Pediatrics (CAP) at The Medical University of South Carolina provides both inpatient and outpatient evaluations of children suspected of child maltreatment. The Child Abuse Pediatric Division has two board certified Child Abuse Pediatrics, one board eligible Child Abuse Pediatrician, as well as one senior Pediatrician highly experienced in the field. The MUSC CAP Division also includes SANE-P’s and five part-time RN's.

The MUSC CAP Division provides 24-hour coverage to any child suspected of abuse or neglect and works hard to provide education in the prevention of child maltreatment.

  • Emotional Abuse (emotional abuse including but not limited to exposure to domestic violence)

Training Programs

The Division of Child Abuse Pediatrics is active in educating nurses, medical students, physician assistant students, pediatric residents, and has a 3-year fellowship accredited by the American Board of Pediatrics.
